Inner Child
Now this is my piece called Inner Child. Duh. This was inspired after an artist I came across on Instagram with trifolds similar to mine, however I do not know their name at this time. Anyways, to sum up this piece I wanted to encompass the idea that our young spirit and care free days are still inside of us, we just have to be willing to open up to find it.
To create the piece, I used a piece of bristol board in which I folded into 5 sections, but only the two outside pieces would be visible for the first half and the other three for the second portion. On the outside pieces, I created a side profile of a young woman using graphite, white charcoal, and black charcoal to give it a dark feeling if not very solemn vibe. The inside, however, depicts the young woman as a child. As you can see, it contains vibrant colors and even a child's handprints (shout-out to Eli)!

A few struggles I faced when making this piece included what paper to use for the project, finding a child to make handprints, and most of all, the child's portrait. Because children have very round and soft features compared to the more prominent and defined features of an adult, it was very difficult to get a rough sketch that didn't look mildly terrifying and to work with when it came time to use the colored pencils.
